About Summer McMullen

I was raised in the Plymouth-Canton area where I assisted my grandparents and other relatives with their businesses. At 19, I purchased my first home. My husband and I moved to Hartland over 23 years ago, where we raised our son who attended Hartland schools. I attended Schoolcraft College and obtained my Associate in Arts in Accounting with a minor in Criminal Justice. I then attended Walsh College where I earned my Bachelor in Business Administration and Accounting. Recently, I achieved my Michigan Certified Assessing Technician certificate from the State of Michigan and I am excited to expand my knowledge of Assessing.

I have the skills and experience to continue making significant contributions to the township and its citizens. My expertise in tax, accounting, and technical matters, as well as my reputation for delivering exceptional customer service, make me a strong candidate to continue in this role. I am eager to increase my experience related to citizen planning to gain a deeper understanding of the township's planning and zoning requirements. I enjoy the challenge of researching issues to help find effective solutions. I am known for my collaborative attitude, flexibility, energy, and attentiveness.

As a trustee, my top priority is understanding and addressing the needs and concerns of our community. I share residents' concerns about increasing housing density and advocate for carefully evaluating future development proposals to ensure they are suitable for our neighborhoods. Additionally, I strongly support improving our dining and shopping options to encourage social interaction and enhance our community. My goal is to promote thoughtful development that preserves our community's character, improves our quality of life, and represents the interests of our residents.

During my first term as your Trustee, I was able to reduce landscape zoning requirements and lower the sewer rates for Township residents who utilize this utility. I am committed to being a responsible steward of the Township Budget.

I am an active member of Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church here in Hartland and have dedicated my time to volunteering with New Hope Centers for Grief Support Kid’s Camp, an integral part of their Circles of Hope Program, for several years.
